Scheduling an Appointment

Office hours are Monday thru Friday 8am to 5pm
Advice and triage nurses are available Monday thru Friday 8:30am to 4:30pm
Well Child Care, Check-Ups, Sports/Camp Checks
These non-urgent appointments are an important part of the preventive and health education work that we do as pediatricians. To insure our availablity for those urgent visits, only a set number of check ups are scheduled each day. Check ups are scheduled up to 6 months in advance. Call early to get your preferred time. Having your child see his or her own doctor each year provides for a special relationship and continuity as your child grows.
Remember: sports checks come around every year, camp checks every 1-2 years. Call ahead to schedule. Please do not wait to the last minute.
Well Child Visits Schedule
Urgent or Problem Oriented Visits
We provide same-day appointments for sick or injured children. We know well that problems crop up unexpectedly and are as flexible as possible in accomodating the needs of the families we work with.
Phone Calls
Nurse calls: our nurses are available to answer questions Monday-Friday 8:30am to 4:30pm. No question is too minor or silly; the nurses are here to help with uncomplicated child health problems, or to help you decide if you should see the doctor. For questions regarding medication dosages and common illnesses you may wish to look at other places on our website first.
Physician calls: Return calls from our doctors are returned as time allows, and often may be at the end of the day. If you are concerned about more involved issues such as behavior problems or a prolonged illness, it is usually best to come in to the office for a consultation. There may be a fee for more extended telephone consultations, and this may not be covered by your insurance.
After hours calls
It is well known that children get sick after hours and on weekends. We have a nurse advice service available to the parents of our established patients anytime the office is closed. Dial 805-965-1095 option 2 to speak to the operator and leave a message that will be returned within approximately 1 hour.

Please save routine questions (mild illness, appointments, prescription refills) for the morning. We encourage you to refer to our website first, when practical, before calling the office.
Emergencies
If an emergency should arise, please call 911. Emergencies are considered to be those conditions that are life-threatening: loss of consciousness, severe bleeding, seizure, etc. In the case of minor emergencies (lacerations, cuts, mild fractures, sprains), please call our office first for instructions.
